Better Business for All - Fire Safety

Do you have any regulatory concerns for your business?

Not sure what regulations your business needs to comply with?

Do you know whose responsibility fire safety is?

Fire safety responsibility lies with:

  • Employers

  • Self-Employed with premises

  • Those responsible for buildings with public access &

  • Any contractor who has control over premises

You have a legal responsibility to ensure the safety of people who are using your premises and the area around them should a fire start.

The "Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 covers almost every type of building, structure and open space? It doesn't cover private homes or flats.

In order for you to meet the legal requirements you will need to carry out a fire risk assessment.

There's a helpful guide on how to do this on the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) website and you can download it free.

You need to make sure your business is fully compliant and that you get it right first time and save money!

Please contact the Business Support Helpline to give them your business postcode so they can signpost you to your local authority.
