Additional Information
You could get a Childcare Business Grant to help with the costs of setting up a childminding business or nursery in England.
This scheme will run until March 2016.
What you’ll get
You could get a one-off payment depending on the type of business you’re setting up:
- £500 if you’re setting up as a childminder
- £1,000 if you’re setting up a childminder business, including a nursery or out-of-school club
- £1,000 if you’re planning on providing childcare for disabled children
The money can help you pay for:
- public liability insurance
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance
- a local authority approved childcare training course
- a first aid course
- Ofsted registration
- equipment
You’ll also get free, expert business mentoring.
Eligibility
You’ll get a grant if:
- you are registered with Ofsted and send a copy of your Ofsted registration certificate
- you have evidence that you’ll be starting your business in the next 6 months, eg a business plan, details of clients or premises, and planned advertisements
Apply for a grant at the start of the Ofsted registration process, ie when you’ve spoken to your local authority about childcare in your area and booked relevant training courses.
