Additional Information

The £125 million Finance for Business North East programme is a suite of 7 investment funds designed to drive future economic growth in north-east England.

The funds provide investment to fast-growing small to medium enterprises (SMEs) and increase business enterprise and SME development.

The aim is to support 850 businesses across all sectors in Northumberland, the Tees Valley, Tyne and Wear and County Durham through loans and equity investments before 2015.

Companies based in the north east can access finance from 7 different funds giving genuine choice and opportunity. These 7 funds are managed by 6 different fund managers and target funding at companies from different sectors and stages of growth.

Finance for Business has been made possible by a collaboration between the European Investment Bank (EIB), European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and government. The EIB has provided funding of £62.5 million, with ERDF and the government supplying the remaining £62 million.

The programme is managed and co-ordinated by North East Finance, which acted as a strategic advisor in the creation of the funds.

All funds are provided on commercial terms. There are no grants available.
