The SSI Task Force has secured £80 million from Government in response to the SSI Steelworks closure in Redcar.
£30 million has been ring-fenced to support workers' redundancy payments, alongside a number of new funds designed to support companies and individuals affected by the closure plus a grant scheme available for other Tees Valley companies who can demonstrate local growth and expansion opportunities.
SSI Task Force Jobs and Skills Fund
A wage subsidy scheme to enable businesses in Tees Valley and the surrounding area to create new job opportunities and employ former SSI employees, their spouses or partners living in the same household and supply chain workers affected by the closure of SSI.

Supply Chain & Growth Company Support Fund
There are 3 main elements to this fund.
- SSI Supply Chain Support Scheme - to support all supply chain companies nationwide affected by the closure of SSI.
- Capital Grant Scheme – grants of up to 200,000 Euros to support all companies who are looking to invest and grow in the area. Support is not limited to companies in the SSI supply chain.
- Tees Valley Small Grant Scheme - to support companies to access external expertise and professional services with grants of between £2,500 and £25,000.

SSI Task Force Business Advice - Start Up Fund
This Fund offers former SSI workers advice on starting their own business. There is also a grant scheme which could provide a start-up grant of up to £10,000 to help make a business a real opportunity.
