Marske Business Expands with support from Tees Valley Business Compass

The Capital Grant Scheme, operated by Tees Valley Business Compass, granted AAA Roofing £49,000 funding to support the company in establishing a new roofing supplier’s yard on Marske Industrial Estate.

The new enterprise supplies reclaimed roofing materials to builders and roofers, filling a gap in the local market as the nearest facility is currently in Durham.

The family business was founded in 1976. Six years ago Ben Blackburn took over its running after his father sadly passed away. Since then it has grown from Ben and a colleague to having 13 vans and 20 staff, including offering apprentice opportunities to local young people.

Ben Blackburn, Managing Director, AAA Roofing, said: “The Capital Grant Scheme has enabled us to invest in this new project which complements the existing business.

“We have grown significantly over the last few years and have ambitious plans to continue to expand and create further opportunities.
